Are you as much of a bread lover as I am?

I don’t know what it is, but I’ve ALWAYS loved me some carbs.
The smell of the yeasty dough just seriously makes me swoon!
When we order pizza and I get to the crust, I break it open, stick my nose inside, and take a deep breath.
MMMmmmmm!!

So, because I absolutely FELL. IN. LOVE!!! with Rebecca’s of Foodie with Family, Classic Pizza Dough recipe when I made it from her cookbook, Ready, Set, Dough!, AND because that ONE recipe makes enough dough for THREE pizzas, I decided to use some of it to make some other recipes to share with you.
The first being these wonderful Parmesan Cheese Bread Bites.
I think you’ll like them because we sure do!

Too bad you can’t reach into your screen and just grab that little nugget, eh?
That cheese and garlicky goodness make these a perfect appetizer, snack or game day finger food.
Just be sure to have your favorite marinara on hand and plenty of napkins.

Are these a copycat of Domino’s Pizza Parmesan Bread Bites?

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea because I’ve never had them.
I know that you can order them from Domino’s, but I don’t know if mine taste anywhere similar to theirs.
I guess I’ll have to give them a try and see.

Tips for making homemade bread bites –

  • use ⅓ of thisClassic Pizza Dough recipe
  • Remove the dough from the refrigerator and allow to rise for one hour in the plastic bag before beginning.
  • Place a piece of parchment on a clean work surface and divide the dough in to four equal pieces. Roll one of the pieces into a rope that is 10 inches long. Repeat with the remaining dough
  • I find it’s easiest to use a pizza cutter to cut the rope into 10 1-inch pieces.
  • Place all of the pieces evenly spaced, onto a baking sheet that has been generously sprayed with cooking oil. Cover with a tea towel and let sit undisturbed on the counter for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and melt the butter in a microwavable safe bowl.
  • Add the garlic, Italian seasoning, and kosher salt. Brush half of the mixture onto the bread bites.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. They will be lightly golden in color. You may want them to be darker, but DO NOT OVER BAKE! If you do, they will harden and be tough to eat. Ask me how I know this.
  • When you take them out of the oven, brush half of the bread with half of the remaining butter mixture. Then sprinkle them with half of the Parmesan cheese. Then repeat with the other half of the bites. I found it easiest to do half of the batch at a time. The first time I made them, I finished spreading the butter on all of them, then started sprinkling the Parmesan and found it wasn’t really sticking because they’d already absorbed the butter.
  • These are delicious served with your favorite marinara or even with an herbed olive oil.

Parmesan Bread Bites are a great appetizer dipped in your favorite marinara. They're easy to make from my pizza dough recipe, are basted with a healthy dose of garlic butter, and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. I promise you they won't last long!

Ingredients

  • recipe of this Classic Pizza Dough
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt heaping
  • cup grated Parmesan
  • ½ cup marinara

Instructions

  • If using pizza dough that has been in the refrigerator, place the bagged dough on the kitchen counter for one hour before starting.

  • On a piece of parchment, divide the dough into four equal pieces. Roll one piece into a rope that is about 10 inches in length. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, divide dough into 10 pieces, each about an inch in length. Repeat with remaining dough and place onto prepared baking sheet evenly spaced. Cover the baking sheet with a tea towel and allow to rise for 30 minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. and spray a rimmed baking sheet generously with cooking spray.

  • Melt the butter in the microwave in a microwavable safe bowl. Add the garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt, and mix well.

  • Brush the tops of the bites with half of the garlic butter, reserving the remainder when they are removed from the oven.

  • Bake for 15 minutes. They will be very lightly golden. Do not over bake or they will become hard.

  • After taking them out of the oven, brush half of the bites with half of the remaining butter, and sprinkle the tops with half of the grated Parmesan cheese. I've found it's easiest to do half so that the butter is still wet enough for the cheese to stick. Brush remainder of the bites and sprinkle with cheese.

  • Serve with your favorite marinara or an olive oil dipping sauce.
